RMIT English Language Test for Aviation
RELTA (RMIT English Language Test for Aviation) is designed for pilots and air traffic controllers who must demonstrate English language proficiency for aviation licensing purposes. The test assesses the candidate's ability to speak and understand English in routine and non-routine radiotelephone communication contexts with a focus on plain English.
RELTA consists of a 30-minute Speaking Test and a 40-minute Listening Test. Both parts of the RELTA are delivered via computer and the Speaking Test is delivered via an examiner.
RELTA evaluates the Aviation English language skills of pilots and air traffic controllers in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) language proficiency requirements. Candidates are evaluated according to ICAO's six-stage Language Proficiency Rating Scale.
